MARINE PAINTER

#2014-33

Dakota Creek Industries, Inc. is looking for Marine Painters. Candidates must be available to work 6 days per week (Monday – Friday, overtime and weekends as needed) and occasional swing shift.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Oversee and help with surface preparation
  • Wash and/or pressure wash surfaces to remove grease, rust, scale and dirt
  • Sand blast, mix paint
  • Paint with brush, roller and sprayer
  • Sand surfaces between coats and final coat to specified finish
  • Clean and maintain equipment after each use
  • Run aerial lift equipment

 

Minimum qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year marine painting experience required
  • Sandblasting experience required
  • 5 years painting experience preferred
  • Understanding of paint formulas and specifications
  • Ability to read paint specifications and understand blueprints
  • Ability to calculate paint consumption

Physical requirements include ability to walk, stand, climb stairs and ladders, sit, crawl, bend, kneel, and lift up to 75 pounds.  Able to enter confined/enclosed spaces frequently.  Able to work at heights. Able to wear personal protective clothing to include hard hat, safety glasses, respirator and fall protection.

PIPE FITTER

Dakota Creek Industries is looking for experienced Pipe Fitters, to lay out, install and maintain ships’ piping systems, following blueprints, and using hand tools and shop machines.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Plan layout of pipe sections, allowing for conformance to specifications, holes, and obstructions
  • Cut and bore holes in bulkheads and decks for installation of pipes
  • Operate shop machines
  • Bolt and weld pipe brackets to support pipe systems
  • Plumbing
  • Select, rig and operate come-a-longs, chain falls, and other equipment to move and secure sections of steel pipe structure
  • Apply knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry and trigonometry

Desired qualifications:

  • 3 – 5 years pipe fitting experience preferred
  • Able to work independently
  • Able to accurately identify schedule and pipe alloy
  • Able to understand blueprints and written work related documents
  • Able to use a cutting torch

PIPE WELDERS

#2014-30

Dakota Creek Industries is looking for experienced pipe welders.  Employees in this position use hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join piping systems, such as steam heat and fuel, hot water, hydraulic, air pressure, and oil lines.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as MIG / TIG / STICK
  • Weld components in flat, vertical and overhead positions (all position welding), using mirrors when necessary
  • Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding
  • Coordinate work with Pipe Fitters
  • Read blueprints and engineering sketches to insure correct placements and measurements of assembly and welds
  • May need to operate and / or use manlift

 

Desired qualifications:

  • 3 – 5 years prior welding experience
  • Pipe fitting experience
  • Knowledge of mild, stainless steel, Cu/Ni and Aluminum
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra and geometry and their applications
  • Working knowledge of marine piping systems
  • Will be required to be fit for a respirator
  • Must be able to pass 6G weld test (stick and /or wire) to be considered for employment

EXPERIENCED STEEL SHIP FITTER

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Laying out and fabricating metal structural parts, such as bulkheads and frames, according to blueprints or templates,
  • Aligning parts according to specifications,
  • Fitting parts and pieces in position within hull of ship for welding ,
  • Setting up and operating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, grinders, and drill presses, to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or otherwise form and assemble metal components,
  • Installing packing, gaskets, liners and structural accessories and items such as doors, hatches, brackets and clips,
  • May tack weld clips and brackets in place prior to permanent welding.

 

Desired qualifications:

  • 1-3 years steel fitting experience
  • Able to use tools such as welding torches, scarfing guns, grinders, power saws, shears, or workshop presses
  • Able to understand blueprints
  • Able to work at heights as well as enclosed and confined spaces

  • Install and repair wiring, fixtures, and equipment for all electrical services aboard ship and in shipyard facilities, following blueprints and wiring diagrams
  • Test and troubleshoot systems
  • May construct instrument panels, using hand tools, rulers, dividers, and power drills, following specifications

 

Minimum qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 years electrical experience required
  • Understanding of shipboard electrical distribution systems
  • Able to read marine blueprints

 

Physical requirements include ability to walk, stand, climb stairs and ladders, sit, crawl, bend, kneel, and lift up to 100 pounds.  Able to enter confined/enclosed spaces frequently.  Able to work at heights.  Able to wear personal protective clothing to include hard hat, safety glasses, respirator and fall protection.
