LABORER

Dakota Creek Industries is looking for general laborers that would work on various new construction projects. Duties include grinding, sweeping, emptying trash cans, picking up garbage, and improving housekeeping by rerouting leads and hoses as needed.

Minimum requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year construction experience
  • Experience in a shipyard industry preferred

Physical requirements

The position requires frequent lifting, working outdoors, at heights, as well as in confined and enclosed spaces. Employees in this position may be exposed to adverse weather conditions. Must be able to walk, stand, climb stairs and ladders, sit, crawl, bend, kneel, and lift up to 75 pounds. Able to wear personal protective clothing to include hard hat, safety glasses, respirator and fall protection.

Dakota Creek Industries is looking for a Material Coordinator to support the purchasing department with quotes for upcoming repair projects. Employee in this position will be responsible for:

- Estimating material prices,

- Communicating with vendors,

- Preparing reports for the purchasing and repair department.

MARINE PAINTER

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Oversee and help with surface preparation
  • Wash and/or pressure wash surfaces to remove grease, rust, scale and dirt
  • Sand blast, mix paint
  • Paint with brush, roller and sprayer
  • Sand surfaces between coats and final coat to specified finish
  • Clean and maintain equipment after each use
  • Run aerial lift equipment

Minimum qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year marine painting experience required
  • Sandblasting experience required
  • 5 years painting experience preferred
  • Understanding of paint formulas and specifications
  • Ability to read paint specifications and understand blueprints
  • Ability to calculate paint consumption

WELDERS – SWING SHIFT

Dakota Creek Industries is looking for Welders for swing shift.
Swing shift schedule: 3:30 pm – 2:00 am, Monday-Thursday.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Weld metal parts or components using brazing, gas, or arc welding equipment
  • Perform all position welding – welds in flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead position
  • Review layout, blueprints, diagrams, or work orders in preparation for welding or cutting metal components

Desired experience:

  • Minimum 3 years welding experience
  • Experienced with dual shield wire
  • Stick welding preferred but not required
  • Must pass 3 positions weld test to be considered for employment

Desired knowledge and skills:

  • General knowledge of welding
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures
  • Ability to understand blueprints
  • Ability to work independently, under a minimal supervision
  • Willingness to learn

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Measuring, cutting, fitting and welding wireways.
  • Pulling wires through wireways.
  • Use of hand tools.

  • Metal fabrication experience required (steel)
  • Minimum 3 months welding experience required
  • Must be able to use a cutting torch
  • Experience in a shipyard industry preferred

PIPE FITTER

Dakota Creek Industries is looking for experienced Pipe Fitters, to lay out, install and maintain ships’ piping systems, following blueprints, and using hand tools and shop machines.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Plan layout of pipe sections, allowing for conformance to specifications, holes, and obstructions
  • Cut and bore holes in bulkheads and decks for installation of pipes
  • Operate shop machines
  • Bolt and weld pipe brackets to support pipe systems
  • Plumbing
  • Select, rig and operate come-a-longs, chain falls, and other equipment to move and secure sections of steel pipe structure
  • Apply knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry and trigonometry


Desired qualifications:

  • 3 – 5 years pipe fitting experience preferred
  • Able to work independently
  • Able to accurately identify schedule and pipe alloy
  • Able to understand blueprints and written work related documents
  • Able to use a cutting torch

PIPE WELDERS
#2014-13

Dakota Creek Industries is looking for experienced pipe welders. Employees in this position use hand-welding equipment to weld or join piping systems, such as fuel, water, hydraulic, air, and oil lines.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as MIG / TIG / STICK
  • Weld components in flat, vertical and overhead positions (all position welding), using mirrors when necessary
  • Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding
  • Coordinate work with Pipe Fitters
  • May need to operate and / or use aerial lift


Desired qualifications:

  • 3 – 5 years prior welding experience preferred
  • Some pipe fitting experience
  • Knowledge of mild, stainless steel, Cu/Ni and Aluminum
  • Will be required to be fit for a respirator
  • Must be able to pass 6G weld test (stick and /or wire) to be considered for employment

Duties & responsibilities include:

-          Laying out and fabricating metal structural parts, such as bulkheads and frames, according to blueprints or templates

-          Aligning parts according to specifications,

-          Fitting parts and pieces in position within hull of ship for welding ,

-          Setting up and operating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, grinders, and drill presses, to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or otherwise form and assemble metal components,

-          Installing packing, gaskets, liners and structural accessories and items such as doors, hatches, brackets and clips,

-          May tack weld clips and brackets in place prior to permanent welding.

Desired experience:

1-3 years steel fitting experience

Able to use tools such as welding torches, scarfing guns, grinders, power saws, shears, or workshop presses

Able to understand blueprints

Able to work at heights as well as enclosed and confined spaces
