Inspection, Maintenance and Repair Vessel
The Ross Candies is an IMR (Inspection, Maintenance, Repair) vessel, owned by Otto Candies, LLC, designed servicing the offshore petroleum industry, intended to operate mainly in deep water areas. It was named 2010 Ship of the Year by Professional Mariner Magazine.
This steel monohull vessel is a total diesel electric boat with four Caterpillar 3516C diesel engines, each rated for maximum continuous duty at 3150 HP at 1800 RPM, which power two Schottel 2500kW Combi Drives which supply propulsion. In the bow there are three 910 kW fixed pitch tunnel thrusters powered by Siemens VFD AC motors.
An integral part of the vessel’s payload delivery and retrieval system is the 100 ton mast. Located on the main deck amidships on the port side, the mast transfers the wire rope from the 100 ton deep sea winch to the main deck, centered over the moon pool opening. The mast is compensated against active and passive heaving to reduce any swinging of the wire rope as it enters the moon pool. The large 25’ x 20’ moon pool is provided and allowances are made in space and poser for the operation of remotely operated vessels. Additionally, this vessel has a 100 ton knuckle boom crane.
The Ross Candies can accommodate up to 72 crew members and includes a gymnasium, cinema, conference room and helideck staging area. This is the second in a series of three.
